Walter Hoff (politician)

Walter Hoff (born January 5, 1924 in Freimengen ) is a Saarland politician ( FDP / DPS ).

After primary school, Hoff worked for the Velsen mine from 1938 . After the evacuation the following year, he worked as a calculation assistant for a machine factory in Aachen . In 1942 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and then for military service. In 1943 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in December 1945 for health reasons - Hoff was severely damaged in the war. From 1947 he worked as a miner in the Merlebach mine in Lorraine .

In 1955 Hoff joined the Democratic Party of Saar (DPS), of which he was a member of the extended state board from 1956. In December 1958 he was able to replace Karl-Heinz Buchholz in the Saarland state parliament . He did not succeed in re-election two years later, but was able to move up again in 1963, this time for Arthur Heitschmidt . In 1965 he left the state parliament. The Landtag elected him in 1964 as a member of the fourth Federal Assembly , which in 1964 re-elected Heinrich Lübke as Federal President.
