Walter Weiss (born June 15, 1910 in Wiesbaden-Biebrich ; † August 18, 1950 in Munich ) was a jazz and big band musician. He played solo trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, double bass and occasionally appeared as a singer.

Live and act

Walter Weiss was the son of the chamber singer and academy professor Eugen Robert Weiss and his wife Marie-Louise Müller-Weiss , court opera singer.

His artistic career began around 1929. Before the war, Weiss played in the bands of Peter Kreuder and Adi Rauch and at that time was also involved in filming for EMELKA. In 1938 Weiss was drafted into the Wehrmacht. Weiss was released from captivity in February 1947. Just a few weeks later, Walter Weiss began working again, mainly in the officers' mess of the American Army in Munich, although his health was badly damaged by several wounds. From 1947 to around 1949 Weiss was a member of the Freddie Brocksiepers sextet . Walter Weiss worked with Brocksieper in the A. Rauch chapel before the war. Until his early death in August 1950, Weiss was close friends with Hugo Strasser and Max Greger .
