Life

He came from a long-established family of pharmacists and was the son of Hans Hubmann, the owner of the Upper Pharmacy not far from the Kulmbach town hall.

After attending school, Walter Hubmann passed the state examination and received his doctorate from the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

In 1952 he opened a third pharmacy under the name Stadt-Apotheke in Kulmbach in addition to the lower and his father's upper pharmacy . It was initially in leased rooms. In 1957, Hubmann acquired a building opposite this pharmacy on the corner of Pestalozzi and Güterbahnhofstrasse, which he had demolished and rebuilt as a modern, five-story pharmacy building. In 1958, the city pharmacy managed by Hubmann opened its doors there. He later took over his father's upper pharmacy, which was also rebuilt in 1955.

Hubmann achieved sustainable promotion of his profession by founding today's vocational school for pharmaceutical-technical assistants of the Association for Pharmaceutical-Technical Training Institutes in Bavaria eV in Langheimer Amtshof in Kulmbach (Rentamtsgässchen 2). He was also one of the co-founders of the Rotary Club in Kulmbach in 1966 .

Hubmann was a board member and long-term deputy chairman of the Bavarian Pharmacists' Association (BAV) and at the same time chairman of the Upper Franconian district association. He was chairman of the Association of Bavarian Pharmacy Managers and Deputy Chairman of the collective bargaining association for pharmacy managers at the federal level.
