Walter Jonas (screenwriter)

Walter Jonas (born January 13, 1900 in Berlin , † June 14, 1965 in Paris ) was a German screenwriter and dramaturge .

Live and act

Jonas graduated from high school and then worked in a bookstore as well as in publishing and sales. In 1923 Henrik Galeen approached him and asked him to work on the script for the cinematic horror story Das Wachsfigurenkabinett (unnamed). The great success of the flick made Jonas immediately known, and at the beginning of 1924 he was hired as a dramaturge by the Berlin production company Phoebus-Film .

Jonas produced scripts for this company from 1925 onwards. They provided the basis for entertainment films without any major intellectual claim. In later years Jonas also worked for other film companies. After only two sound films, Walter Jonas disappeared from the public eye.
