Walter Kofler

Walter Kofler (born May 27, 1945 in Imst , Tyrol) is an Austrian doctor. He taught at the Medical University of Innsbruck and has retired since 2010 .

education

Walter Kofler studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck, doctorate to Dr. univ. med. and completed his habilitation in 1976 for the subject of hygiene ("associate professor"). He was director of the Social Medicine Section - School of Public Health at the Department of Hygiene, Microbiology and Social Medicine at the Medical University of Innsbruck, and deputy head of the department. There will probably not be a successor as the institute will be closed.

In 2014 he was accepted as an external member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

Current research focus

  • Public health research: Complex understanding of the effects of traffic-related environmental impacts on health, illness and the need for recreation and how they can be influenced
  • Philosophy of Science: Extended View model for a theory of the health of a person as a social being. Striving for the “convergence project” to bring the different natural and non-natural sciences closer together - as a basis for the deduction of health-related statements
