Walter Nippold

Walter Nippold ( 1892 - 1970 ) was a German anthropologist .

After studying geography , history and ethnology in Göttingen , Nippold worked from 1935 to 1957 as an assistant and later as curator of the anthropological collection in Göttingen . In 1936 he received his doctorate under Hans Plischke (1890–1972) with the thesis on the racial and cultural history of the Negrito peoples of Southeast Asia . Together with Werner Lang and Günther Spannaus, he published the Plischke Festschrift: About foreign peoples and cultures. Contributions to ethnology. Dedicated to Hans Plischke on the occasion of his 65th birthday by his colleagues and friends, students and employees (Droste, Düsseldorf 1955). His book Individual and Community among the Pygmies , Bushmen and Negrito peoples of Southeast Asia was published in 1960. For the Schebesta festival for the 75th birthday (Vienna-Mödling, St. Gabriel 1963) he provided the contribution to the habitat and worldview of the Andaman people .
