Walter P. Chrysler Museum

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum was an automobile museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan , north of Detroit. It existed from 1999 to 2012 and dealt with the company history of the automobile manufacturer Chrysler and the brands Jeep , Dodge , AMC and the supplier Mopar . In addition to the permanent exhibition, there were thematic exhibitions on the subject of mobility.

In 1996 the property was separated from the factory premises and prepared for use as a museum. The building designed by Giffels Associates opened on October 5, 1999. In 2008 the business and the collection were transferred to the non-profit Walter P. Chrysler Museum Foundation .

The museum was closed at the end of 2012 due to insufficient visitor numbers. In 2016 it was reopened to visitors on numerous weekends. The museum was finally closed on December 31, 2016. The approximately 65 vehicles are to be exhibited at various FCA locations. The premises will then be used as offices.
