Walter Pfeiffer (born June 12, 1927 in Auggen , † May 10, 2014 in Offenburg ) was a German football player.
Career as a football player
Pfeiffer took his first steps as a footballer at Offenburg FV , which led to him being part of the Offenburg zone selection. Later played first division football in the Oberliga Süd . There he completed a game for the Stuttgarter Kickers . In the 3-0 defeat of the Kickers against Waldhof Mannheim on January 27, 1952 Pfeiffer was in the starting line-up. In May 1952 he was finally allowed to fly with the Kickers, as one of the first ever, to the United States after the First World War . This was followed by more years in the jersey of the Offenburger FV . Furthermore, Pfeiffer was a South Baden selection player.
Professional
After Walter Pfeiffer had completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter, he had to do military service at the age of 17 and was interned in England. When he was back in Germany, he completed an engineering degree and at the same time built a master craftsman in metal. After the death of his father-in-law, he took over his concrete block business until 1996.
Pfeiffer was holder of the state badge of honor and the badge of honor of the state of Baden-Württemberg . On February 22, 1988, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. Furthermore, he was honored for responsible positions in the Freiburg Chamber of Crafts, the Guild Health Insurance Fund and the District Craftsmen's Association. Pfeiffer was also a city councilor in Offenburg and a member of the Volksbank's supervisory board.
Private
Walter Pfeiffer was married to Inge Pfeiffer, daughter of the Offenburg contractor Eugen Bayer, for 54 years.
