Walter Renken

Walter Renken (born November 13, 1905 in Danzig - Neufahrwasser ; † unknown) was a German SS leader.

Life

After attending school, Renken studied law . In the 1930s he became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 959.943) and the SS (SS number 150.396).

In the mid-1930s, Renken joined the SD main office as an employee . Around 1940 he was transferred to the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA). There he initially headed Section II A 4 ("Reich Defense Affairs") in Office Group II. Later, his section changed to Office Group IV ( Gestapo ), into which it was incorporated as Section IV E 1 ("Defense Matters"). During the war years, Renken led, among other things, the investigations into the former SPD Reichs MP Helmuth Klotz , who was executed in 1943 for his journalistic activities against the Nazi government.

On January 30, 1944, Renken was promoted to SS-Obersturmbannführer . In January 1945 he took over the organization of the so-called "withdrawal movement", d. H. the escape of Gestapo officers underground and abroad.
