Life

Rominger was parish vicar in Langenbrand from 1992 to 1994 ; he was refused a position as a pastor in the regional church of Württemberg in 1996 due to his proximity to conservative parishes and communities.

Rominger was a long-term association member until 2007 and a board member of the conservative Evangelical Emergency Community in Germany from 1991 to 1993 . He is also a member of the Bible Association and, since 1996, of the federal working group of the confessional movement “No other gospel” , of which he has been the managing director since 2016. He was also in 1998, u. a. In addition to the Confessing Evangelical Congregation Neuwied, co-initiator of the emergency synod of Siegen, which advocated strengthening particular congregations outside the EKD and numerous strongly conservative positions.

Rominger publishes theological essays in specialist journals such as the Deutsches Pfarrerblatt , Lutherische Posts , Blätter für Württembergische Kirchengeschichte , Diakrisis (magazine) as well as on the series of publications of the confessional movement “No other gospel” and the Biblical Association (“Bible and Congregation”). Rominger lives in Albstadt . His Walter Rominger Foundation has a foundation capital of approx. 640,000 euros (as of 2010).

Positions

In his writings he positions himself a. critical of the ordination of women in the Protestant Church, ecumenism, euthanasia, abortion, genetic diagnostics, gay marriage and the societal approach to homosexuality in general as well as Islam.

In 1999 he expressed clear criticism of Islam in relation to the newspaper Junge Freiheit . This is more dangerous than communism and, due to its theological concept, carries the risk of suicide bombings and other acts of violence. The parties and people's churches in Germany would downplay and disguise the threat from Islam. He also spoke out against teaching Islam in German schools and against dual citizenship . In other texts, too, he describes Islam as "anti-Christian and inexcusable", accompanied by further criticism of the increasing atheism in Germany and parallel social developments (e.g. the introduction of same-sex marriage ).

In 2003 Rominger defended the then CDU MP Martin Hohmann, who was criticized for accusations of anti-Semitism , by arguing that, according to a certain theological interpretation, modern Judaism was shaped by anti-Christian principles.

Rominger is a supporter of the March for Life movement , which is directed against abortion law. Because of his positions, Rominger is assigned to the New Right .
