Walter Schiess

Walter Schiess (born September 6, 1898 in Herisau ; † November 12, 1959 ) was a Swiss editor and free thinker .

Life

Schiess attended the canton school in Chur , did an apprenticeship in the Chur telephone and telegraph administration and worked as a telegraph operator in the main telegraph office in Bern . He later took over the editing of the Technischen Rundschau . In 1952 he published the anniversary publication Hundred Years of Electrical Communications in Switzerland .

For many years Schiess was the central president of the Swiss Freethinkers Association until 1958, when Marcel Bollinger took over from him. During the Second World War he was editor of the organ of the Freethinkers Association .
