August Hermann Kreyssig

August Hermann Kreyssig (born August 3, 1811 in Annaberg , Erzgebirge, † 1889 in Niederlößnitz ) was a German pastor.

Life

Kreyssig's father, Johann Gottlieb Kreyssig, was the rector of the Annaberg Lyceum and later a high school professor at the Princely School of St. Afra in Meißen. Kreyssig himself attended this grammar school (1823-1829). After graduating from high school, he studied Protestant theology at the University of Leipzig . He passed the exam in 1832 and was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. His older brother Carl Justus Wilhelm Kreyssig was active in the Corps Lusatia Leipzig in 1825 as a law student (and later forestry officer) . His uncle was Carl Traugott Kreyssig , who worked as a lawyer in Chemnitz and Dresden. August Hermann Kreyssig also came to Lusatia as an old- fashioned Renonce . At their 40th foundation festival (1847) he was reciprocated . From 1840 he worked as a pastor in Beicha near Lommatzsch . He was a member of the Society for Saxon Church History. In particular, he edited and published the biographies of the St. Afra graduates from 1543 and of the Evangelical Lutheran clergy who had been active in Saxony since the Reformation . Retired in 1884, he lived in Kötzschenbroda and most recently in Niederlößnitz. His son Paul Hermann Kreyssig (1851–1910) continued the standard work on the pastors of the Saxon regional church .
