Walter Schneider (politician, 1925)

Walter Schneider (born January 16, 1925 in Haiger ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

biography

After graduating from high school, Walter Schneider did military service from 1943 to 1945 and studied agriculture in Gießen after the war . He completed his studies as a qualified farmer and worked from 1952 to 1968 as a commercial clerk in industry. From 1968 he was managing director of the workers welfare in Gießen.

Walter Schneider is a member of the SPD and led the Gießen district association of his party from 1976. He is also a member of the ÖTV trade union . For his party he had been a city councilor in Gießen since 1964, where he led the SPD parliamentary group for six years. From March 10, 1977 to November 30, 1978 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament.

Walter Schneider is married and has two children.

NSDAP membership

In a study published by historian Hans-Peter Klausch on behalf of the Die Linke parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament in 2011 , Walter Schneider's membership in the NSDAP is revealed. According to this study, he was accepted as a member of the NSDAP on April 20, 1943 under membership number 9.375.036. The study points out that Schneider applied for membership at the age of 17 and was one of those who “can be seen as young victims of years of indoctrination, from which they broke free after the war at the latest”.
