Walter Seitz (judge)

Walter Seitz (* 1938 ) is a German judge and legal scholar .

Life

Walter Seitz studied from 1958 to 1963 at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich . He passed the legal state exams in 1963 and 1968, and in 1970 he received his doctorate in law . Until 1971 he was a research assistant at the Leopold Wenger Institute for Legal History at the LMU. From 1971 to 1978 he was a judge and public prosecutor in Munich, then until 1983 lecturer and deputy head of department at the Bavarian Civil Service College - Faculty of Justice in Starnberg . From 1983 to 1990 Seitz was a judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court and from 1990 to 1995 a judge at the Bavarian Supreme Court . From 1995 until his retirement on December 31, 2003, Seitz was presiding judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court. As in his time as a judge at the Higher Regional Court, he was primarily responsible for press matters.

Since 1993, Seitz has as honorary professor a lecturer for media law at LMU.

Seitz has been a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne since 1994 .
