Walter Weber (physicist)

Walter Weber (born March 26, 1907 in Gelsenkirchen , † July 18, 1944 in Kościan , district of Kosten (Wartheland) ) was a German pioneer of electromagnetic sound recording.

From 1925 to 1927 he studied at the Oldenburg Engineering Academy. From May 1, 1928 to December 31, 1930 he worked as an engineer at the central laboratory of Siemens & Halske AG in Berlin. Here he met Hans-Joachim von Braunmühl . When he moved to the laboratory of the Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft, he followed him there in 1931. On November 2, 1938, he received his doctorate with the work The sound spectrum of blasting sparks and blasting pistols with a contribution on possible applications in electroacoustic measurement technology .

On April 18, 1940 (again) they reinvented HF bias (HFVM). On June 10, they demonstrated their HF magnetophone in the Ufa-Palast am Zoo in Berlin.
