Walter Wimmer (politician)

Walter Wimmer (born June 20, 1919 in Ansfelden ; † November 9, 2003 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and social security employee. From 1958 to 1985 he was mayor of Ansfelden and from 1978 to 1979 a member of the National Council .

Life

After compulsory school, Wimmer attended vocational school and learned the trade of a locksmith. He worked as a commercial employee and in 1946 joined the Upper Austrian regional health insurance fund for workers and employees. In 1948 he took over the function of a works council.

Wimmer had joined the SPÖ in 1947 and rose to the position of local party chairman of the SPÖ-Ansfelden in 1949. Between 1956 and 1958 he held the office of vice mayor, after which he was mayor of the municipality from 1958 to 1985. He was also involved as district chairman of the Upper Austrian Association of Municipalities and member of the board of the Austrian Association of Municipalities and represented the SPÖ between October 18, 1978 and June 4, 1979 in the National Council for a short time. He also served as a board member of the Sparkasse St. Florian and was a founding member of the Ansfelden Water Association.

Wimmer was married and had one daughter.
