Walter von Moos

Walter von Moos (born October 21, 1918 - January 5, 2016 ) was a Swiss industrialist.

Life

Walter von Moos came from an old Catholic Swiss ministerial family. In 1949, after studying chemical engineering at the ETH Zurich, he joined the family company Moos'sche Eisenwerke in Emmen near Lucerne, which was founded in the mid-19th century, and converted it into von Moos Stahl AG . He was a delegate (1979–1988) and Chairman of the Board of Directors (1988–1993). Under his leadership, the company was expanded to include a new rolling mill in 1980 and became active worldwide. Mid-1990s, the family was in the company Swiss Steel and, together with the Swiss Von Roll Stahl AG in the Schmolz + Bickenbach integrated.

He was honored with the badge of honor by the city of Lucerne for his social commitment. Among other things, he was the founding president of the Lucerne Concert Hall Foundation (KKL Luzern).
