Waltershofen in Oberschwaben is a small village that belongs to the municipality of Kißlegg in the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Original name: Waltershouven. Waltershofen is first mentioned in documents as a place owned by the St. Gallen Monastery in 1275. The establishment probably goes back to the eldest son of the von Kißlegg family in the 12th century. In 1431 the place came from the Lords of Heimenhofen zu Hohentann to the Schellenberg family. In 1632 Waltershofen was cremated during the Thirty Years War with droughts by the Swedes on their retreat from Wangen to Leutkirch. In 1708 the small rule of Waltershofen was handed over to the rule of Waldburg-Wolfegg. In 1806 it was attached to Bavaria, then in 1810 to Württemberg .

On January 1, 1972 Waltershofen was incorporated into the municipality of Kißlegg .
