Waltraud Schütz

Waltraud Schütz (born February 7, 1957 in Linz ; † March 30, 2005 in Kenya ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and social scientist. From 1986 to 1994 she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Schütz attended elementary school and a general secondary school, which she graduated with the Matura. She then studied social science at the University of Linz and completed her studies with the academic degree Magistra . After completing her studies, she worked from 1980 to 1986 as an employee of the SPÖ district organization Linz- Stadt, after which she represented the SPÖ in the National Council from December 17, 1986 to November 6, 1994. She also worked as a social scientist and held voluntary activities and functions in socialist youth organizations and clubs.

After her political career, Schütz was particularly committed to development policy and ran a business in Vienna. Among other things, she helped in an orphanage in Kenya. During a stay in Kenya, a varicose vein tore in her esophagus and she bled to death on the way to the capital, Nairobi.
