Wanda Guyton

Wanda Guyton (born October 14,  1965 in Tampa ) is an American basketball coach and former player.

career

The 1.85 meter indoor player played for the University of South Florida (USF) in the 1984/85, 1986/87 and 1988/89 seasons and broke several records for the university team. When she finished her college years in 1989, Guyton was in the all-time best list of the USF women's team, among other things, in first place for points scored (1820) and rebounds (1077). In their games for USF, Guyton posted an average of 18.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per encounter. In 1989 she was named Player of the Year at the Sun Belt Conference, and in 2009 Guyton was inducted into the Hall of Fame at her college.

During her professional career she played in the 1989/90 season in Japan, from 1990 to 1992 in Spain, from 1992 to 1997 in Italy and from 1997 in the WNBA . With the Houston Comets she won the WNBA championship in 1997 and 1998, and in 1999 she was part of the Detroit Shock squad .

2001 Guyton moved to TSV 1880 Wasserburg . With Bayern she became German champions in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and German cup winners in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2004 she was named basketball player of the year in Germany.

From 2008 she was co-trainer in Wasserburg (or at times an equal trainer in a team with Hans Brei ) and in this role she contributed to winning the German championship titles in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In addition, she worked as a trainer for Wasserburg's second women's team, the men's team and in the youth field.
