from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The wall painting graves of Liaoyang ( Chinese  辽阳 壁画 墓群 , Pinyin Liáoyáng bìhuà mùqún , English Mural Tombs in Liaoyang / Painted Tombs at Liaoyang ) in Liaoyang in the northeast Chinese province of Liaoning are famous for their wall paintings, large multi-chambered stone tombs from the Han dynasty up to the Wei - Jin period (魏晋).

They are mostly common in the northern suburbs of Liaoyang on the left bank of the Taizi He River (太子 河). First graves were discovered in Bangtaizi棒 台子 屯 in 1944 , after the founding of the People's Republic (1949) one old grave after another was discovered. There are exquisite wall paintings in the graves. They depict travel scenes, festivals, acrobatics and kitchen scenes and reflect the life of the nobles, rich and powerful as well as everyday life.

They have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-167) since 1961 .
