Wang Jie ( Chinese  王洁 , Pinyin Wáng Jié ; born December 4, 1983 in Xinjiang , People's Republic of China ) is a former Chinese beach volleyball player . (On the official FIVB website, 1985 is given as the year of birth)

Career

Wang Jie first played volleyball at the Kuitun Sports Training School in Xinjiang. The pupil started playing beach volleyball in 1992. At her first FIVB tournament in 2002 with Lu Chunhong, Wang failed in the first round of qualification, at the second start the following year with her new partner Ji Linjun, she finished fifth in the main field on Rhodes . This was the greatest joint success for the two Chinese women. In two tournaments in Norway and in their home country they came in ninth place.

After a two-year hiatus, the most successful period in Wang Jie's career began in 2006 when he worked with Tian Jia . Two victories in Warsaw and Klagenfurt, second places in Shanghai and Phuket as well as bronze medals in Modena, Gstaad, Montréal and Porto Santo made up the balance of this year. There was also a third place at the Asian Championships. The two Chinese women started the following season with a win in Shanghai. Second places followed in Sentosa, Seoul, Paris and Stavanger and third places in Berlin and Marseille. At the World Championships in Gstaad , Wang and Tian reached the final, in which they were defeated by the Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor . After winning the silver medal, the Asians finished third in Norway and Thailand in the same year, came second in Finland and won the FIVB Challenger & Satellite tournament in Hong Kong at the end of the year. In 2008, Wang and Tian took silver in three tournaments (Osaka, Berlin and Gstaad) and came third in Moscow. However, the Olympic Games in their home country were both the climax and conclusion of their joint careers . In Beijing, the two beach volleyball players reached the final, but Walsh and May-Treanor again had to admit defeat and won the silver medal, as at the world championships last year.

Wang Jie played the last two events of the year with her new partner, Zuo Man. The two took a seventh and a fourth place. In 2009 the two Chinese women played in three FIVB tournaments, in Shanghai they achieved their greatest success by winning the silver medal. After a 25th place in Osaka and a 13th place in Seoul, both ended their careers.

In 2013 Wang Jie played a few national tournaments with Xia Xinyi, who was only sixteen .
