The BEMO Modelleisenbahnen GmbH u. Co KG is a German model railway manufacturer headquartered in Uhingen in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The company was founded in 1976 by Harald Göbel, a former employee of the model railway manufacturer Röwa , which went bankrupt in 1975 . With the announcement at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 1976 production of the first narrow-gauge model in mass production technology , a bogie - Diesel V51 / V52 , the starting gun had fallen. Matching wagons and a first steam locomotive model as a kit in white metal / cast brass construction made it possible a little later to bring a piece of Württemberg branch line romance onto the local model railway layout.

1978 came with the E-Lok Ge 4/4 I and Einheitswagen I in the Eastern domestic Grisons meter gauge railway RhB its extensive fleet of vehicles used in the program, in the following years as a model for numerous models. From the beginning, emphasis was placed on prototypical printing of the vehicles with different company numbers or coats of arms and individual details as well as for different epochs . Later, the models of other narrow-gauge came mountain railways in Switzerland , several steam engines Saxony role model and even individual standard gauge vehicles like railcars of the series 624/634 and 650 ( RegioShuttle added) and two Swiss Steam models in metal construction.

In 1981 the narrow-gauge program was taken over by Merker and Fischer .

Current production

The Bemo range mainly includes vehicle models in the H0m, H0e ( nominal size H0 ) scale 1:87 and 0m ( nominal size 0 ) in the scale 1: 43.5 based on the models of Swiss meter-gauge railways as well as Saxon and Württemberg narrow-gauge railways.

Vehicle models based on Austrian prototypes and models in gauge H0 and in gauge N on a scale of 1: 160 complete the offer.

The large-scale models are made of plastic , low-volume models in brass and kits and finished models of white metal produced and offered. Production has been carried out in Uhingen since 1976, with the exception of a few vehicles that are important for train formation, which are offered in cooperation with a foreign partner despite the low number of units expected or minimal variant potential, with the development of these models taking place in Uhingen.
