The Wanzkaer See in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the municipality of Blankensee . It is a very elongated former glacier reservoir and glacial channel lake, rich in bays, and thus originated in the Ice Age . The lake is located northeast of Neustrelitz , partly in the Tollensetal conservation area . It has an approximate length of around 3.1 kilometers and a width of 900 meters. The lake is divided into two parts, which are only connected by a road passage. This is where the eponymous Blankensee district of Wanzka is located. The western part is much larger, but also flatter. The basin is elongated and has distinctive bays in the north and south. There is an island in the western part. The eastern part of the lake ( Fauler Sack ) is significantly smaller and deeper and has the deepest point at over 24 meters. In the southeast is the Blankenseer Bucht with the same name.
