Main Street in Warburton (aka Warburton Highway) |
The Warburton Highway is a trunk road in the south of the Australian state of Victoria . It connects the Maroondah Highway on the eastern edge of Lilydale with Woods Point Road in Warburton . The entire road, which has been completely asphalted since 1941, has two lanes and is located in the Local Government Area of Yarra Ranges Shire .
course
The highway branches off the Maroondah Highway (B300) to the east on the eastern edge of Lilydale and connects Melbourne with the wine-growing region in the valley of the Yarra River and the regularly snow-covered mountain peak that is closest to the city - Mount Donna Buang above Warburton.
It continues through Woori Yallock and Yarra Junction to Warburton, a small town on the southern edge of the Yarra Ranges National Park . There it turns into Woods Point Road (C511), which leads northeast and east to the village of Woods Point in the headwaters of the Goulburn River .
Speed limits, police checks, accidents
Within built-up areas, the maximum permissible speed is 50–60 km / h, outside 70–80 km / h. Only 90 km / h is allowed between Seville and Woori Yallock .
Because of the speed limit of 100 km / h and the high volume of traffic, there are frequent police checks.
Especially on weekday afternoons the road out of town is very busy and long traffic jams form. Most accidents occur at the intersection with Alsopps Road in Launching Place , because there are often residues of diesel and oil on the street due to the adjacent gas station. In just 6 months, 7 accidents happened there.
