Warin from Mâcon

Warin, Count of Mâcon († beginning of 853 ) was one of the most influential personalities in the empire at the time of Emperor Ludwig the Pious and Charles II the Bald . Under Ludwig he emerged particularly during the crisis years 830 and 833/834; in the first years of Charles the Bald's reign he became one of the most powerful men in western France . With his troops he fought in the Battle of Fontenoy (841) on the side of Charles and contributed decisively to his victory. In 843 he played a key role in the Treaty of Coulaines .
