The container ship type Warnow CS 1200 of the Warnemünder Neptun-Warnowerft was built in a series of four units.

details

The ship design of the CS 1200 series was carried out and presented by VEB Warnowwerft. Four units were built between 1990 and 1992 for the two Hamburg shipping companies Bernhard Schulte and Peter Döhle. From 1992, 17 units of an extended variant called the Warnow CS 1400 followed .

The ships are designed as multi-purpose container ships with a deckhouse far aft. The container capacity is 1208 TEU, with homogeneously loaded 14-ton containers it is still 866 TEU. There are 75 connections for refrigerated containers . The ships have five holds with seven hatches which are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The ships were developed for use in areas with poorly developed port infrastructure and are therefore each equipped with two Hägglund cranes, each with a capacity of 40 tons, arranged amidships .

A characteristic of the type is the lattice construction between the two cranes, which is used to lay down the crane boom. The ships are equipped with freefall lifeboats arranged at the stern .

The ships are powered by a two-stroke Sulzer 6 RTA 58 diesel engine with an output of around 9500 kW. The motor acts directly on the fixed propeller and enables a speed of 17.5 knots. A shaft generator , auxiliary diesel and an emergency diesel generator are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
