Watch tower (Saalbach-Hinterglemm)

The watch tower is located in the municipality of Saalbach-Hinterglemm in the Zell am See district of the State of Salzburg (Turmgasse 35).
history
The tower belonged to the manor of the parish church of St. Aegidius and Martin in Fusch an der Glocknerstrasse . This leads to the assumption that the tower was owned by the Lords of Goldegg , who donated to Fusch at the beginning of the 14th century. The tower served with other defensive structures (Spielberg pass and ski jump, tower at Gut Mitteregg, Hennlab pass) to secure the mines on the upper reaches of the Saalach and as a storage facility for the Pinzgau mines.
Construction
The tower stands north of the parish church of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. It is built from strong quarry stone masonry . Originally the entrance was only on the 1st floor, today you can also enter the house at ground level. The windows are arranged irregularly, some of them have tabs on the upper throats. Today the building is home to the Zum Turm apré ski bar . In the immediate vicinity of the tower is the home of Saalbach, a farmhouse from the 16th century, in which farm equipment is exhibited.
