The wart head or bald head shrike ( Pityriasis gymnocephala ) is the only species in the family of the warts heads from the order of the passerine birds . The birds grow to about 25 cm and are endemic to Borneo .

They are large, black birds with red and yellow heads, the wings of the females are partly red. The beak is strong and hook-shaped, the tail quite short.

The wart head lives in lowland swamps and forests. It feeds on insects, other invertebrates and small reptiles. The species is notable for its numerous loud calls.

The relationships of the kind are controversial, according to recent (2006) findings is they are near the IORAS , bushshrike and Wattle .
