The Ioras ( Aegithina ) are a genus of birds from the family of the same name, the Ioras (Aegithinidae) within the order of the passerine birds (Passeriformes). The genus includes four species . Ioras were formerly classified in the family Irenidae together with the leaf birds (Chloropseidae) and the fairy birds (Irenidae).
Ioras inhabit forests, gardens and orchards and are common from South Asia to Southeast Asia. They reach a body length of 12 to 16 centimeters. Mostly they live alone or in pairs and feed on spiders , insects and other small invertebrates .
There is no pronounced sexual dimorphism among the Ioras . In the breeding season, however, the male attracts attention with its bright plumage.
