Initially, it was brought into being by RAVAG , more precisely by Radio Wien , and immediately became a popular success. It was preceded by a search for a competition program for the very popular entertainment programs of the US-influenced station Rot-Weiß-Rot . Radio Vienna was rather unpopular because the station (the broadcasting house from which the broadcasts were handled was in the Soviet occupation zone of Vienna ) was considered a "Russian station" by the population. The broadcast began in February 1946 under the title What do we do on Sunday when it's nice? but soon switched to the new title. It was broadcast live from the large broadcasting hall of the Wiener Funkhaus on Argentinierstrasse. All other pieces of music were also recorded live by Conrads and his staff. This contributed not insignificantly to the popularity of Conrads. The fixed points also included the apparently indispensable question for a large part of the audience at the time about their well-being and the subsequent wishes for recovery. The memory of the program, which was broadcast almost unchanged for decades, is still present in many Austrians today.
