Wasenmeisterei (Ingolstadt)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wasenmeisterei is a former part of the Upper Bavarian city of Ingolstadt .

history

This is where the district's central animal body disposal facility was located , which, because of the unpleasant smell and the risk of disease, was located directly downstream of the Danube , outside the inhabited urban area in what is now the Monikaviertel district. The flayer , as he was called back then, was dependent on large amounts of water for cleaning. In the Bavarian original cadastre from the 1810s, the wasteland is recorded as a flayer . In the census of 1885, there were still five residents in the wasteland of Wasenmeisterei. In the census of December 1, 1900, Schinder was no longer listed as an independent district. Up until the late 1970s, the maps showed three buildings there and were labeled with skinner . In the 1980s this name also disappeared from the maps and the buildings were demolished. The former site of the Wasenmeisterei is now undeveloped and is used for local recreation. Only the street name Unterer Schinderschüttweg still reminds of the trade at that time.
