Washington Barella

Washington Barella (* 1964 in Piracicaba , Brazil ) is an oboist .

life and work

Barella studied from 1984 to 1986 at the Hanover University of Music with Ingo Goritzki and continued his training from 1988 to 1990 at the Hartt School of Music , Hartford with Humbert Lucarelli .

From 1981 to 1983 and from 1987 to 1988 he was principal oboist in the Campinas Symphony Orchestra and from 1990 to 1992, also as principal oboist, in the Atlantic Sinfonietta Orchestra in New York (USA).

Barella is a member of the Albert Schweitzer Octet and has performed solo concerts on Bayerischer Rundfunk, with the SWR Symphony Orchestra , the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn , the Savannah Symphony and the Annapolis Symphony in the United States.

In 1998 and 1999 he was given a teaching position at the Frankfurt University of Music and has been a permanent lecturer at the “Festival de Inverno de Campos do Jordão” in São Paulo since 1997 . Barella has been a member of the SWR Symphony Orchestra since 1992.

He works as a professor at the Institute for Artistic Education / Orchestra Instruments and Conducting at the Berlin University of the Arts .
