Washington Institute for Near East Policy

The Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) is a think tank in the United States . She commented on US policy in the Middle East .

history

WINEP was founded in 1985 by former research director for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac), Martin Indyk .

The institute was “founded to develop a balanced and realistic understanding of American interests in the Middle East. Under the leadership of an excellent bipartite committee of advisors, the committee awards grants to bring US politics to this vital region of the world. Drawing on the research of its teachers and the experiences of politicians, the institute promotes American engagement in the Middle East in order to strengthen alliances, develop friendships and promote security, peace, prosperity and democracy for the people of the region. Members of the Advisory Committee are John R. Allen , Evan Bayh , Howard Berman , Eliot Cohen , Henry Kissinger , Joseph Lieberman , Edward Luttwak , Michael Mandelbaum , Robert McFarlane , Martin Peretz , Richard Perle , Condoleezza Rice , James Roche , George P. Shultz , James Stavridis , Paul Wolfowitz , R. James Woolsey, and Mortimer Zuckerman .

Robert Satloff has been the managing director of WINEP since 2006. Some of the Institute's advisors have been members of the George W. Bush , George HW Bush, and Bill Clinton administrations .
