Wasq

Wasq was a volume and grain measure in Arabia. It was particularly widespread to the right of the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea and especially in Persia . In the early days of Islam, the measure was also the camel's load.

At the time of Hārūn ar-Raschīd (786-809) was

  • 1 Wasq = 2 ½ Wasq (of the Prophet ) = 630.864 liters corresponds to about 485.765 kilograms for wheat
    • 1 Sāʿ = 4.2 liters
    • 3 Sāʿ = 16 Ratl = 1 Faraq / Farq = 12.617 liters
