The Hainspitz moated castle was located in the municipality of Hainspitz in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

history

Members of a ministerial dynasty of the Wettins called themselves after the Hainspitz settlement . They were mentioned in a document as early as 1132.

During the Saxon Civil War in 1450, the moated castle was still occupied. During the Thirty Years War it burned down after being looted and fell into disrepair after being neglected.

Today only a flat hill and parts of the moat are left of her on the peninsula in the lake.
