The Liepen moated castle is a moated castle in the town of the same name, Liepen , a district of the municipality of Gielow east of Lake Malchiner in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

In 1337 the noble Hahn family , whose ancestral seat Basedow is located a little to the west, was enfeoffed with castle complex and Gut Liepen. The moated castle was probably built at this time as a mansion and fortification. It was built on a sickle-shaped söll . In order to achieve immediate protection, a ditch was added to the east. After the end of the Thirty Years' War , the castle lost its importance as a fortification and fell into disrepair. In 1700 a baroque mansion was built on the preserved cellar vaults. The square building is an unadorned, one-story plastered building in its current state.

It remained in the possession of the Hahn family until the expropriation in 1945 and was then used as a residential building. From 1994 to 1998 the facility was extensively renovated. At that time, the non-profit landscape development company Rosenow mbH was based in the Liepen moated castle. After 2010, the former forge was renovated and a stone oven was installed.

Since February 2015, the Wasserburg has been in the possession of the family of Count and Countess Hahn von Burgsdorff, who have set up an estate there and also live here privately. The cellar vaults and seminar rooms can be rented for celebrations, meetings and lectures.
