When the water hemisphere or water hemisphere the hemisphere which is earth denotes the (computationally determined) has the largest proportion of water.

Its center is located in the Pacific Ocean east of the Bounty Islands of New Zealand on 47 ° 13 '  S , 178 ° 28'  O coordinates: 47 ° 13 '0 "  S , 178 ° 28' 0"  O . From the continents or the land mass , it contains Australia , Antarctica and some parts of Asia (southeastern part of the Malay Archipelago ) and South America . Opposite is the land hemisphere with the center in Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region in France .

In the water hemisphere, 227,000,000 square kilometers, or 89 percent of the surface, is covered by water and only 28,000,000 square kilometers, or 11 percent, by land, which makes up 14.4% of the earth's land area.

Globally, it is 71 percent water and 29 percent land.
