The Olidan hydropower plant is a hydropower plant on the Göta älv river near the Olidan narrow point in Trollhättan . The power plant went into operation in 1910 and was Sweden's first state-owned hydropower plant .
The first stage consisted of four units. The power station was then expanded twice until it finally consisted of thirteen units with a total output of 130 MW . Nowadays, Olidan is no longer used to full capacity, as the neighboring Hojum hydropower station has been expanded with a higher degree of efficiency in order to be able to use almost the entire amount of water in the river.
The building was designed by Erik Josephsson and is made of Swedish granite from Bohuslän or Roslagen .
