Watercourse (mining)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Upper Harz mining industry, a watercourse is understood to be a water transfer tunnel created to supply the mines with power water. A watercourse is characterized by its two mouth holes (inlet and outlet mouth hole ), while a tunnel has only one mouth hole. In the area of the Oberharzer Wasserregal there are over 35 watercourses with a total length of around 30 km.

Outside of the Upper Harz the watercourses are called Röschen .
