The water castle Tauchritz is a mansion in the Görlitz district of Tauchritz . It stands on the northern outskirts near the Berzdorf lake .

The former manor was first mentioned in a document in 1306. It belonged to Mr. Nikol von Neuershove, tester in Görlitz . The castle was built on oak piles in the swampy terrain and partially surrounded by moats to prevent the piles from drying out. From 1349 to 1422 it was owned by the noble Bieberstein family on Friedland. In 1422 it was bought by von Gersdorf. In 1611 Georg von Warnsdorf bought the castle and Dominium Tauchritz for 25,000 thalers. In 1683 a fire destroyed the castle and eleven other buildings. The current baroque castle was built by Maria Sidonia von Warnsdorf in 1686/1687 on the foundations of the old castle. It was owned by Warnsdorf until 1749 and was then sold to Joachimstein Abbey . After 1945 it was expropriated and made public property . Among other things, it served as a school. It has been empty since 1987. After a sale, the building will receive restoration.
