Wasserstelz (noble family)
The lords of Wasserstelz were a ministerial family of the Reichenau monastery , which is first documented in 1174. The family died out in the male tribe in 1319.
history
In 1174 the lords of Wasserstelz were named as the owners of the castles Burg Weißwasserstelz and Burg Schwarzwasserstelz . They also built the Rotwasserstelz castle across from Kaiserstuhl AG . There is evidence of a major sale of land in Riehen in 1239. With the death of Rudolf von Wasserstelz, the male line died out in 1319. In 1330 Margarete von Wasserstelz sold the Weißwasserstelz castle to Lütold von Krenkingen .

The Heggenzer von Wasserstelz
In 1451 the Weißwasserstelz castle came to Hans Heggenzi as a wealthy feud. Later, the Schaffhausen patrician family called themselves Heggenzer with the addition of Wasserstelz. The family of the Heggenzer von Wasserstelz is not related to the lords of Wasserstelz.
