Wassyl Yershov

Wassyl Jeremejowytsch Jerschow ( Ukrainian Василь Єремейович Єршов ; born August 15, 1949 in Saky , † November 6, 2000 in Zaporizhia ) was a Soviet javelin thrower.

Jershov took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada. In the Olympic Stadium he was able to qualify for the final, where he came in sixth behind the Poles Piotr Bielczyk and the American Sam Colson .

In 1978 he took part in the European Athletics Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he was fifth behind Detlef Michel . After the European Championships, however, Jerschow, like three of his compatriots, was suspended for violating the doping regulations and banned for 18 months.
