The Waterhen River is a left tributary of the Beaver River in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan .

The Waterhen River forms the outflow of the Lac des Îles north of Goodsoil . The lake is fed by the Cold River , in whose catchment area the larger lakes Primrose Lake and Cold Lake are.

The Waterhen River flows in an easterly direction along the edge of the boreal forest belt. The river flows through Waterhen Lake and continues its course to the northeast and east, before flowing into the Beaver River, which flows north, after about 120 km. The course of the river above Waterhen Lake is within Meadow Lake Provincial Park . The catchment area of ​​the Waterhen River covers 11,100 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 32 m³ / s. The annual discharge profile shows no particular peaks. There are numerous and partly large lakes in the catchment area of ​​the Waterhen River.

The Waterhen River can be several days with the canoe traveled. A 18 km section below the bridge north of Goodsoil has rapids.
