Wayne Craven

Ernest Wayne Craven (born December 7, 1930 in Illinois - † May 7, 2020 ) was an American art historian .

Life

Professor Craven received his BA and MA from Indiana University and received a Ph.D. in 1963. (The sculptures of the south tower base of the Cathedral of Auxerre. A Rémois shop in Burgundy) from Columbia University . During his long teaching career at the University of Delaware , he held the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Chair of Art History. In 2008 the University of Delaware awarded him an honorary doctorate . He is considered a well-known authority in American art of the 19th century, was one of the pioneering scholars of his generation who established the field of American art as a legitimate subject of scientific investigation.
