We Wish You a Merry Christmas
We Wish You a Merry Christmas ( We wish you a Merry Christmas ) is a traditional English Christmas carol from the West Country in England dating back to the 16th century.
The origin of this Christmas song is rooted in the English tradition, with rich parishioners on Christmas Eve Christmas goodies to the Carolers - that is the custom of Carol singing caring singers - gave such as fig pudding that today's Christmas Pudding resembled (Christmas pudding). It is one of the few English traditional Christmas carols that mention the New Year celebrations . It is often the last song performed by these singers for the people they visit.
There are numerous arrangements and countless recordings of the song in a wide variety of styles. A German song text was written by Monika Heumann.
