The Weber Street is a street of Lübeck .

location

The approximately 170 meter long street is located in the southeastern part of the old town island ( Johannis Quartier ). It begins on St.-Annen-Straße , opposite the confluence of Schildstraße at the foot of St. Aegidien Church . After crossing the street An der Mauer , it ends bluntly on the bank of the crow pond .

history

Weberstraße is documented for the first time in 1302 under the Latin name Platea Textorum , derived from the local cloth makers and other fabric processing craftsmen . In 1359 the Low German name Weverstrate is recorded, in 1458 Wulvesstrate . The current name has been officially established since 1852.

During the air raid on Lübeck on March 29, 1942 , Weberstrasse was not affected and therefore still has a closed historical development of modest craftsmen's houses from several centuries.
