The Webertief is a deep sea in the western part of the Pacific Ocean and with 7440 m depth the deepest part of the Banda Sea . It is located to the east of the Banda Sea, northwest of the Tanimbar Islands .

The sea depression was named after Max Wilhelm Carl Weber , who explored these waters in detail hydrographically on the Siboga expedition between 1899 and 1900 .
