Ideal Wedge Tomb Island (Co. Cork)

The Wedge Tomb of Beardiville (also called Gigmagog's Grave ) is located in Coleraine (Borough) southeast of Portrush , southwest of Bushmills in County Antrim in Northern Ireland .

The northeast-southwest oriented Wedge Tomb ( German  "Keilgrab" ), formerly also called wedge-shaped gallery grave , is located on a slight hill in the corner of a field next to the road. It is surrounded by an oval cairn that is about 10.0 m long. It is at least 3.0 m wide, but the adjacent hill may originally have belonged to it and thus result in a width of over 7.0 m. The approximately 4.4 m long gallery is well preserved, but a field wall over the back makes it difficult to estimate its length precisely. The grass-covered hill material extends to the upper edge of the gallery, which is 1.3 m wide on the inside and widens to 1.45 m towards the entrance. Two cap stones have been preserved, one measuring 1.68 × 0.59 m and the other 2.25 × 1.34 m. A few large, loose stones in front of the gallery are probably from the courtyard. Remnants of the outer wall are preserved on both sides of the gallery.

Beardiville is a Scheduled Monument .
