Bushmills ( Irish : Muileann na Buaise ) is a place in historic County Antrim in Northern Ireland and has a population of about 1,300. The place belonged to the dissolved District Moyle and since 2015 belongs to the District Causeway Coast and Glens .

He is known for the Old Bushmills , one of the oldest whiskey distilleries in the world, which was first mentioned in 1743 and officially founded in 1784. The founding date of 1608 used by the distillery refers only to the first issue of a license in County Antrim. Therefore, Locke's Distillery in Kilbeggan, licensed in 1757, can claim the title of oldest distillery.

The Bushmills brand of The Old Bushmills Distillery Co. , distributed by Irish Distillers , includes blend and malt whiskeys .

Bushmills is located near the north coast on the A2 coast road between Portrush and Ballycastle . It is 95 km from Belfast , 10 km from Ballycastle and 15 km from Coleraine . The place had the Census 2002 1319 inhabitants and belongs to the district Moyle. Excursion destinations east of the village are the famous Carrick-a-Rede Bridge , Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway . To the southwest lies the Wedge Tomb of Beardiville (also called Gigmagog's Grave).
